It is held during the months on April and May every year, but this year's IPL started on March 23rd, 2019 which is 2 weeks earlier compared to previous year's due to the 2019 Indian general election scheduled from 11 April to 19 May 2019. This year is the 12th season with 8 teams participating.
Delhi Daredevils has been renamed to Delhi Capitals in this year IPL.
The official IPL 12 Schedule has been released. First match is to be held on 23rd, March 2019 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
